Rules of conduct that you should follow here!

We all go to the gym primarily for fun. We look out for each other, train together, and want to have a good time. We don’t need to talk about normal social behavior. However, each box also has rules that members are expected to follow. This can be confusing for newcomers at first, as things usually happen on their own.

We’ll explain things and point you to our BREAKOUT RULES .

#1: Arrive on time.

Better yet, be on time. There are always exceptions and circumstances that make this impossible, but it shouldn’t be the rule. Respect your coach’s time and effort, and especially the time of your fellow trainees. If you’re late, your coach will have to explain everything again for you, and the whole class will be delayed. If you have an unpredictable route to get to the box, leave five minutes early to be on the safe side. We know that things don’t always run smoothly; stress at work or traffic jams can always happen. If you’re late, briefly check in with your coach and then complete the warm-up on your own. We’re happy to have you there—even if you’re five minutes late!

#2: Greet all other athletes and introduce yourself

We are a community; for many of us, it’s even more than that. That’s why we place great value on harmonious interaction. Greet all other athletes as soon as you enter the box. If you see new athletes you don’t know, introduce yourself. Remember what it was like for you when you first started.

#3: NEVER DROPS THE EMPTY POLE – NEVER!

This also applies when removing plates! You don’t have to treat empty barbells like a raw egg, but it is still important to handle them with care. Our weightlifting bars have ball bearings on the outside of the sleeves so that the plates rotate with the movement. If you drop the bar empty, these ball bearings will break after a few drops, and the bar is ruined. We have drop etiquette that bars with “one 10 kg plate or more per side” can be dropped – if you have two black 5 kg plates or less on your right and left, you must put the bar down .

#4: Fire up people who are still working when you’re done

The last ones get the loudest cheers! Finished your workout and don’t know what to do? Look around the room and support the other athletes who are still working. They’re struggling through the same workout just like you just now – cheering them on and the right words go a long way. Respect the hard work – your class is a community, and that’s true until the end.

#5: IT WILL NOT BE DISMANTLED UNTIL AFTER THE DEBRIEF.

As long as athletes are still working, all equipment stays where it is. We’ll end the class together when everyone is finished. Have your coach call everyone together and say a few words, then you can put away your equipment. Respect your coach and what they have to say. After that, you’ve done it!

If you have to leave early due to appointments or something else, it’s best to just discuss it with your coach before class. It’s not a problem.

#6: CLEAR. YOUR. STUFF. AWAY.

Everything. Unless otherwise communicated. This applies to equipment used in classes as well as in the open gym. Barbells and the like are usually stowed away, but resistance bands, wall balls, and dumbbells are often forgotten. Also, put the boxes and benches back in their proper places! Thanks.

#7: Respect the personal space of other trainees

You’re exercising in a group, in a community. So, there are a few more people in the room than you. Pay attention to others when they’re around you. If someone is doing pull-ups on the bar or is about to start a lift, don’t walk right in front of them. Keep a safe distance or wait a moment until the movement is finished. This should be our best hour of the day—you’re all pulling together.

#7: DON’T RUN ACROSS THE AREA AND FOCUS ON YOURSELF

If a class is in progress and you’re not part of it, you have no business being in the class area. It doesn’t matter how few people are there. Not even for a quick visit. The same applies if you’re in the open gym. Stay in the open gym. Feel free to chat with people after the class. Distracting yourself from individual athletes also disrupts everyone else in the class! Respect the space and the concentration of the trainees and coaches.

Running late? We have enough space around the area for you to get to your coach.

#8: WHEN YOU MAKE A PR, RING THE BELL. ★

A PR is a personal record – something you haven’t achieved before. The first pull-up, adding 5 kg to your bar – things like that. Yeah, very cool! High five! Let’s celebrate! We have a PR bell just for that. We hang it right next to the class whiteboard! Got a PR?! Go on, ring it. Let’s celebrate!

#9: ONLY THE COACHES COACH!!!

Advice is always well-intentioned, but we are trained to help you and all other athletes improve. If you are not the coach of the class, refrain from giving any instructions or corrections. That’s not your job, regardless of your qualifications or role! Focus on yourself!

#10: CELL PHONES HAVE NO PLACE ON THE PLACE

Please refrain from playing with your phone during class. Making calls or sending messages is absolutely taboo. It’s also annoying when athletes constantly move their phones around because they’re trying to record themselves. That’s also a matter of respect and absolutely doesn’t help you focus on the sport and your performance. The same goes for the ever-increasing problem of the iWatch. Turn on airplane mode and get to class!

★ Cell phone ringing or loud messages are 30 BURPEES

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

In addition to these rules, there are many other behaviors that are human and that most people engage in in social settings anyway. Here are a few for inspiration:

Listen to your coach when they’re explaining something. Go to the bathroom during your pee break, not at any time. If you can’t stand it anymore, just let your coach know. Don’t start a conversation with your neighbor in the middle of a workout. Be happy for other people’s success. If you don’t, keep it to yourself. Clean your equipment if you’ve sweated, bled, or cried all over it. Don’t throw clamps around. Don’t drop kettlebells or dumbbells. Don’t talk nonsense. Don’t put anything on the boxes, not even barbells or weights. Sign up for the class. Sign out if you can’t make it. Be part of the community. Don’t miss any events. Have fun. Stay true to yourself. Follow the rules!
